Argghhh Avast...

Ahoy mateys, ye scurvy bilge rats. Ok, yes we went to Pirates 3 today. Yes it was long, but yes it was awesome. The effects are some of the best ever put to film, the characters are at their liveliest, but my favorite was the brief interlude of actual sound and dialogue from the ride at the Magic Kingdom. Coolest part about the trailers was the fact that for the upcoming Transformers, the robots make the same noise when the change as they did in the cartoon of the '80s. That was cool.

-In other news, to all of the members of the armed services, Thank you. To the family members of those who have fallen, my condolensces. Have a safe memorial day weekend America.

Bad form...

Well kids, our beloved Sabres fell to the Senators over the weekend. It's hard, but then again, it's only hockey and there's always next year to provide more palpitations. The Preakness Stakes were exciting, my 1st chioce lost to my 2nd choice by about 8 inches. Either way the payout was minimal.

-In other news, I watched Seraphim Falls this past weekend. It's a post Civi-War western starring Pierce Brosnan, Liam Neeson, Angelica Huston, 'Benny' from The Mummy, and that old standby Michael Wincott. Needless to say, it was not that great. I can't wait to see Pan's Labrynth, Apocalypto, and Pirates 3 this week.

Things...

K kids,

Things that are good: Spiderman 3, not as good as 1 or 2, but still good, definitely entertaining, and a film that I enjoyed. My new job, a lot of work, a lot of reward. Summer approaching, holding down porch with 2 of my college buddies over the weekend, just like old times.

Things that are not so good: The play of our beloved Buffalo Sabres as of late, the play of my Yankees as of late, the fact that my college buddy BFJFY went back to NYC, and Lord knows when we will hold down porch again.

-Homework for you guys, keep thinking about your 10 final song lists!

-In other news, a hearty Congrats to my friend Gabby on her Graduation over the past weekend! Also, to one of my closest friends Big Dave, a hearty congrats on your graduation from Law School! (echoed by the Doc) Good luck in all you do guys.

What a show...

Hi kids. Honey and I just got back from seeing The Silversun Pickups at the Towne Ballroom tonight. W-O-W!! Fantastic show. It kind of spurred me to actually post the following list. I've been meaning to do it for some time, but haven't had a chance, so here goes: (Please play a long we're interested in your selections!)

-You are sentenced to death, and before your execution, you may listen to 10 songs, what are they? *This is isn't Sophie's Choice, but for a music lover it's damn close. This will play with your head, cause you to think, gnash teeth, pull hair etc... Good Luck! BTW: if you must, you may choose up to five alternates.*

Here's my list: (in no particular order)

1. "Star-Spangled Banner"
2. "Notre Dame Victory March"
3. "Seven Nation Army"-The White Stripes
4. "Yellow"-Coldplay
5. "In My Life"-The Beatles
6. "Lazy Eye"- The Silversun Pickups
7. "Fly Me To The Moon"- Frank Sinatra
8. "Folsom Prison Blues"- Johnny Cash
9. "Crazy Game of Poker"- O.A.R.
10. "Sloop John B"-The Beach Boys

My Alternates
* "God Only Knows" The Beach Boys
* "Angels We Have Heard on High"
* "Gonna Fly Now"-Rocky theme
* "Lover Lay Down"-Dave Matthews Band
* "Star Wars Main Theme"

Honey's List TBA

-Well Kids have at it, let the games begin, etc... We're waiting to see what you come up with!

and the winner is...

Hey kids, well Cinco De Mayo went off without a hitch. Thank you to all who came to celebrate with us. To sum up: Pork good, horse racing good, Bocce ball good, boxing good, beer good...

Street Sense won, I cashed in only a little, but a win is a win

-In other news, De La Hoya should have won, forget the HBO commentators, forget Merchant, Lampley, and Kellerman, forget the press who had all but annointed Mayweather prior to the bout, De La Hoya blocked most of a lazy Mayweather's jabs, and pounded on him. The challanger (Mayweather) always must 'challenge' the champion. He didn't, but alas, the split decision went his way. I guess there'll be a rematch.

-I haven't seen Spidey 3, I will, I just haven't had the time. News on it when I see it. Well that's all for now, enjoy the weather!

Run for the Roses...

Ok kids, the Derby is nigh. It is tough to choose my horse this year. There are no real dominant runners, or 'wonder' horses. However, I have had my eye on Curlin. He's inexperienced, but is fast. I'm not sure if his lack of a significant race log, will factor in this Saturday's outcome. Who knows?

So, here are my bets as of now: Curlin or Street Sense to win (I'll bet both). Superfecta: Curlin, Street Sense, NoBizLikeShobiz, and Circular Quay. Longshot bet: Storm in May

If someone else jumps up well too bad for me. My streak of winnings may be at an end, but only time well tell...
