Let's go Sabres...danh danh da da danh...

So the Sabres are 2-0 heading into NY to face the Rangers. So far so good. I even went down to the arena this week and picked me up a new jersey-the blue one with the above logo on it. (Their current alternate, and original uniform) My old one was getting a little 'worn' so it was time. We've been watching the games downtown, and celebrating sometimes with members of the team as they come in after. It's been great for the fans.

-In other news, congrats to the Cleveland Browns, I think they had a helluva draft day today, and somone here at A.R. just might be picking up a certain #10 Quinn jersey this fall.

-I heard The White Stripes single 'Icky Thump' on the radio for the first time today...bagpipes and guitars, talk about pushing the envelope. I love it! Oooh and the concert is back at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto, but it is this summer and not in the fall. Honey and I are going Yipee!

-This saturday marks Cinco de Mayo at Chez Goose. The party will be festive, (we have a pinata! *too tired to look for the tilde over the n symbol*) there will be BBQ goodness, there will be the sound of a trumpet playing as the horses approach the gate of the Kentucky Derby, and there will be cheers and jeers as De La Hoya takes on Mayweather that evening. I most likely will be heavily intoxicated...so it looks to have all of the makings of a rousing success!

Updates and more...

Ok kids, The White Stripes new album is coming out June 19th. A tour is planned for this fall and I will be there (hopefully in Toronto again). I've been able to preview some of the tracks and they're nice...so nice... Here's the cover art:

-In other news, I watched Smokin' Aces last night. Now I must say, the cavalcade of stars in the film was curious, but they worked well togther. I liked the movie, I didn't love it, but I liked it. I thought Jeremy Piven was underused, was glad that Ben Affleck was, and felt good about Ryan Reynolds' performance. It was very reminiscent of Pulp Fiction crossed with The Usual Suspects. Yet, I was entertained and so that is good.

-To the Buffalo Sabres: great series, keep it up.

That is all.

Seriously?!?...

Kids, I am not happy...not at all...It seems that the brains behind this summer's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer have decided in their infinite wisdom not to portray Galactus as he is. Rather the world devourer will apparently be naught but a 'Storm Cloud' Ok... What? So the Giant (as seen above) will now be the Nothing from The Neverending Story? Totally lame cop-out. I love Marvel comics as you all know, and The Silver Surfer is one of my favorite characters... ever. So, where I was previously looking forward to this film, my interest has been quite diminished. As a side note, if they show the near-invulnerable Surfer having a difficult time with the FF, I'll be even more upset. (only Galactus and a select few types of magic can neutralize-not defeat him) To Tom Rothman (guy in charge of this heinous decision) I thumb my nose at you.

A poll of sorts...

Hey kids, while in Florida, Honey and I were sunning at my 'rents pool with my friend Shaun and his lady-friend Courtney. We got onto the subject of '80s movies and started coming up with a list of '80s films that exemplified the decade. That is to say, those '80s films that portray the epitome of "'80s life" or are in other ways uniquely '80s. Here's what we came up with:

-E.T.
-The Goonies
-The Karate Kid
-Gremlins
-Fast Times at Ridgemont High
-Sixteen Candles
-Ferris Bueller's Day Off
-Top Gun
-Rocky IV
-The Breakfast Club
-A Nightmare on Elm St.
-Just one of the Guys
-Raiders of the Lost Ark
-Romancing the Stone
-Wall St.
-Lethal Weapon
-Over the Top
-Big Trouble in Little China
-The Last Starfighter
-Tron
-The Princess Bride
-Willow
-Stand By Me
-Vacation, European Vacation, Christmas Vacation
-Uncle Buck
-Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
-Trading Places
-Caddyshack
-Beverly Hills Cop
-Bladerunner
-Adventures in Babysitting
-Back to School
-Back to the Future
-Big
-Can't Buy Me Love
-Crocodile Dundee
-The Dark Crystal
-Die Hard
-Ghostbusters
-Labyrinth
-Krull
-The Lost Boys
-Lucas
-One Crazy Summer
-Overboard
-Poltergeist
-Revenge of the Nerds
-Splash
-Teen Wolf

and well that's all we thought of at the time. Any suggestions, ideas?? please let us know.

-In other news, Honey and I went to see Meet the Robinsons today. It was a very cute, funny, Disney movie. Not bad at all.

Well...I'm back...

Hey kids, Honey and I have returned from our Easter vacay in Naples, Fl. Yesterday morning the doc and I did indeed get to the Aston Martin DB9, the Aston Marin V8 Vantage, Porsche CaymanS, Bentley Continental coupe, and Bentely Flying Spur Sedan. The DB9 was glorious and in my opinion the best of the bunch. The Doc was partial to the Flying Spur, but they were all eye-candy (what with the $200K pricetags). That is, all but the Porsche CaymanS. At a scant $60K it was the 'steal' of the group. We had a great time, the shopping was fantastic, golf was frustrating, but fun, and the restaurants were unparalleled. (On an off night we visited P.F. Chang's, note to that organization-build one here in Buffalo STAT)

-In other news, I haven't made my Kentucky Derby choice yet, the there is a colt named NoBizLikeShowBiz that has piqued my interest. Stay tuned...

Oh no...not again...

Hey kids, well it's that time again. Honey has roped me into anther 8 weeks of watching The Bachelor. I actually laughed my ass off tonight, because the girls were like a murderer's row of the nastiest group of chicks they could've come up with for this poor sap. There were only 2 good looking women, both really blonde.(he was smart to choose them both) The rest seemed to be the stunt doubles for the real chicks. (a la Spaceballs). Oh well, it's a small sacrifice, and I love my wife, so I'll watch it.

-In other news, the course here at my parents' house is crazy difficult. We shot...poorly.

sun and fun...

Hey kids, well 48hrs. here and it has been wonderful. Honey and I have enjoyed some pooltime here at the 'rents house, the Doc and I have been golfing, we've eaten like piglets (note to P.F. Chang's: get a location up and running in the Buffalo area, PLEASE), and well I've seen these lovelies already:

Aston Martin DB9 Volante- the dealer is supposed to be very nice, I'd love to test drive this week!

Porsche Cayman S -same dealer, maybe same type of test drive, which would be nice, because I LOVE this auto

Ferrari 360 Spider -not a 430, but gorgeous nonetheless, alas Ferrari won't allow test-drives so no Ferris Bueller moment :(

Rolls-Royce Phantom-it's a behemoth.

Jaguar XK convertible -like a mini Aston DB9, but it's much better than the prior XK8.

-Well that's all for now, gotta get some shut eye, early tee time tomorrow.
