Yay Marty!!

Hey kids, just a quick shout out to Martin Scorsese...FINALLY, after making some of the greatest films in cinema history, Mr. Scorsese has received his due. As we here reported a few posts ago, The Departed is a phenomenal movie, and well-deserving of its "Best-Picture" nod.

-In other news, I am disappointed to say the least after watching Christopher Guest's latest effort, "For Your Consideration. It was shyte through and through-nothing like his earlier works: Guffman, Spinal Tap, or Best in Show. All was not lost though...I also watched a movie entitled Unknown. It starred Jim Caviezal, Greg Kinnear, Barry Pepper, Joe Pantoliano, Jeremy Sisto, and Bridget Moynihan. It's fantastic, I loved every minute of it, go see it ASAP!!

To the Faithfully Departed...

Well kids, I have finally seen it. The Departed, and it most assuredly did not disappoint. Loved everything about this film, story, music, camera work, and Jack, Leo, and "Good Will Hunting". (they were all fantastic in their roles) It isn't my favorite Scorsese film, (that's Raging Bull) but it is his best since Goodfellas. I'm pulling for it at this year's Oscars, though I'm afraid the Academy has sunk to new lows in their choice for the past couple of years, and thus I fear it will not give Martin the directorial nod that he deserves eleventy billion times over.

-In other news, I think I'm going to see Ghost Rider this weekend. I am worried that it will be more like Daredevil and less like Spiderman, but I'm going anyway.

Of a Military Mind...

Hey kids, not too much news, just a little movie review for today. Recently, I rented Flyboys and Flags of Our Fathers. The first film is based on the true story of the Lafayette Escadrille. This American volunteer group flew fighter planes for the French in WWI, before President Wilson decided we should maybe help out a bit. The film had astonishing, thought-provoking visuals, but was crippled by shoddy acting. Clint Eastwood's film, the heralded Flags of Our Fathers, told the story of the six young men that raised our flag atop Mt. Suribachi at Iwo Jima during WWII. A good film in that it stripped away the iconoclastic elements of these men, and dealt with the real fellows that they actually were. I'm looking to rent The Departed this week, and I'll update you on that when I've seen it.

-In other news, Rome has been phenomenal this season. Next week's Episode where Octavian, and the rest of the 2nd triumverate crush the murderers Brutus and Cassius should be the best yet. Here's hoping!!

Super Sunday...

Hey kids, well Peyton finally got his due. I was happy for that. All in all we had a good time yesterday, depite the fact that I abhor the NFL. However, the commercials-now that's real entertainment. My favorite was the free-for-all battle. Also, a big hooray for KBB coming home this weekend so we could go out to the bar Friday night and watch the silly girls and their tube tops when it was FU#%ING NINE OUT!!! By the By KBB, I'm still perfecting the mesh raptor hood;)

-In other news, for you non-Buffalonians, and for every other PC, global warming, "Al Gore's film is the truth" spouting person...Wish you were here! I think the high is slated to be somewhere around "frozen moons of Jupiter" for the next two months.
